Impulse Voltage Generator

Impulse voltage test systems are used for impulse voltages that simulate lightning strikes and switching surges. It generate lightning impulse voltage waveform (LI, 1.2/50 µs), chopped lightning impulse voltages waveform (LIC, front, crest or tail chopped), and switching impulse voltage (SI, 250/2500 µs) in accordance with IEC 60060-1; as well as IEC 60076-3 for transformers, and IEC 62067, 60840 und 60502-1 for cables). Per stage voltage rating is 100 kV and energy rating is 5 kJ or 10 kJ. Applications covered include testing according to IEC, ANSI/IEEE as well as other national standards. The basic system can be upgraded in various ways for special tests and / or greater ease of operation. A number of additional circuits and components allow optimizing the impulse test system for tests on different kind of high voltage test objects.

The user-friendly laptop based digital control unit allows impulse testing in manual mode, semi automatic mode and fully automatic mode. The enclosed sphere gaps significantly reduces the effect of environmental conditions thus minimizing misfires.
