Automatic Insulating Oil BDV Test Set

Insulating oils like silicon, mineral and ester oils form the critical insulation medium for electrical apparatus, such as transformers, tap-changers, circuit breakers, cables etc. When this critical insulation system becomes contaminated or degraded over time, the dielectric properties can be adversely affected causing a potential breakdown or flashover, often resulting in catastrophic consequences.

A primary method of testing these liquid insulation is to measure the voltage withstand capability of the material-a measurement of the oil’s ability to withstand electrical stresses. The voltage withstand capability of the liquid is often reduced when the liquid becomes contaminated. This contamination can be due to dirt, moisture, particulates, cellulosic fibers etc. High breakdown values on the other hand can indicate that the dielectric properties of the oil have not been compromised The instruments are designed to perform accurate AC voltage breakdown tests on mineral, silicon, natural and synthetic ester based electrical insulation liquids.

Various national and international oil testing standards exits that established the testing procedures and limits used to asses insulation dielectric strength for both maintenance and acceptance purposes. These standards are pre-programmed into the instruments, allowing the operator to perform the test in an accurate and efficient way.

BD-100 digital liquid dielectric test sets accurately and reliably test the dielectric strength of mineral, ester and silicon insulating liquids used in a wide variety of electric apparatus

• The test voltage is automatically controlled and increased by microcontroller through control inverter to a maximum level of up 100 kV rms.

• Flashover voltage is measured with an accuracy of ±1% over the whole voltage range.

• Fast HV switch off time (< 5µS) makes it possible to carry out test of dielectric liquids, which are easily destroyed under such influences.

• BD-100 has a built-in printer which is able to print a test report after procedure is done. Test results are saved into non- volatile memory.
